Tired

  • The last few days have been a whirlwind. I was up before 5 a.m. on Wednesday for a trip to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany Oklahoma. We went there to talk to graduating students about locating in Rowlett. We intended to talk to education majors mostly, but quickly realized that they would all be student teaching off campus. Sometimes we are idiots.
  • The trip was not a bust at all. We abandoned our original plan and used our time meeting some administrators that can help us connect to students more efficiently in the future. We headed home late yesterday morning.
  • I got home around 3:00 and had two soccer games to ref last night. One at 6:00 and one at 8:00. These were 15 and 16yr olds and boy do they run more than the 12 year olds. I was completely exhausted last night and even a little sore this morning. I was grateful that I have been running lately otherwise I may have keeled over on the field last night.
  • I enjoyed the games, both were close. Our reffing team even managed a few compliments from parents and coaches following the game. As a ref, compliments are few and far between. No mad coaches or parents following a game is a huge win for the reffing team.
  • Back to the idiots comment from above. Just to prove the point that I am idiot, I arrived home and proceeded to tell my wife that I was "totally exhausted". I was telling this to a woman that had just spent that last two days managing the nosiest one year old planet earth and his older sister as well. Somehow my being "totally exhausted" did not resonate with her. I should have said, "I'll bet YOU are totally exhausted." I will learn, I swear, one day I will learn
