Unity

I have a standing appointment at 11:30 the first Tuesday of every month.  I meet with a bunch of other pastors for food, prayer, and sharing.  It is something that I look forward to and never dread attending.  Sometimes as pastors we go to things we would rather skip but this is not one of them for me.

There is a unique spirit of unity among the pastors in the room.  We have men and women, older pastors and younger pastors, men and women, Baptists, Methodist, Assembly of God, Non-denominational, Nazarene, Bible Church, and more.  We have white folks, black folks, Indian folks.  We have all kinds of differences theologically, some that use grape juice at communion while others use wine. 

Despite all the things that have separated churches for years, we are able to come together based on the fact that we all believe Jesus is the Son of God and that through his death we can truly live in relationship with God. 

We do a few community wide events each year, a National Day of Prayer service in May and a Community Thanksgiving service in November.  It is incredible to see all these pastors come together to accomplish great things for the Kingdom.  We are even planning a community wide Men's Retreat for January.

God is up to something in Rowlett and I am grateful that we get to be a part of it.
